Dec 2 – Illinois Give Big on Giving Tuesday

Your donation helps the 8 food banks of Illinois work tirelessly providing children, women, and men struggling with hunger to access to healthy, affordable foods.

Every dollar donated to the Feeding Illinois food banks counts, especially on Illinois Give Big/Giving Tuesday when your gift for children's anti-hunger programming will be doubled.

With the generous dollar-for-dollar match by Illinois Children's Healthcare Foundation, your gift on Tuesday, December 2, 2014 will mean that twice as many families served by the 8 food banks of Feeding Illinois will be assisted.

Your contributions always have been very important to the food banks of Illinois as we move forward with work still left to be done.

If you join in the festivities of #ILGiveBig and #GivingTuesday, please consider as part of your plan a gift to Illinois food banks.

The Standings: Day 3!

We've got a heated race for the top three spots overall and per capita! DuPage County is representing - their Bar Association has kicked their campaign into high gear, landing squarely in the top spot in the overall points category. Meanwhile, the DuPage Solos have taken the top per capita spot with their impressive fundraising efforts in the last two days. But: the race is young, and we still don't know what's happening offline. It's anyone's game!

TOP THREE TEAMS - TOTAL POINTS EARNED:

1. DuPage County Bar Association

2. Hurley McKenna & Mertz

3. Webber & Thies, P.C.

TOP THREE TEAMS - PER CAPITA POINTS EARNED: (total points divided by # of attorneys/members)

1. DuPage Solos

2. Mothers In Law

3. Hurley McKenna & Mertz

Remember: $1 = 5 points, and 1 pound of food = 1 point.

ATG: Underwriting our Fees

Thanks to campaign partner Attorneys' Title Guaranty Fund (ATG), our campaign expenses are virtually nonexistent.

All fundraising campaigns have expenses - like fees for credit card processing, marketing materials, and web design. Many folks have asked how much of their donation will be passed along to their regional food bank, and how much will go to cover these types of expenses. Luckily, thanks to an outstanding partnership with ATG, we can safely say that nearly 100% of donors' gifts will go directly to Feeding Illinois - and then back to their regional food bank.

Here's how that works. ATG has pledged $15,000 to support campaign expenses, which will cover all credit card processing fees up to a total of $200,000 in donations, plus up to $5,000 in marketing and outreach expenses. Unless we wildly exceed our goal - which, hey, wouldn't that be a great problem to have?! - that means that every dollar will be passed straight through to food banks. That's why, when you give to the campaign online, you'll see a little message on your checkout screen that highlights ATG's support.

As our first major financial sponsors, our friends at ATG have shown incredible leadership and vision in supporting this campaign. We are so grateful to them and their incredible team for their commitment to Feeding Illinois!

The Standings

The campaign is just officially starting, but there's already been a lot of activity. We have no way to know what's happening offline - we do know several teams are already mobilizing to collect food and cash - but we thought we'd throw a little fuel on the proverbial competitive fire by posting our top three teams for the "overall" and "overall per capita" points. Remember: this is only what has come in online - so don't get too attached to seeing these folks in first place. It's anyone's game! So, without further ado: your standings!

TOP THREE TEAMS - TOTAL POINTS EARNED:

1. Hurley McKenna & Mertz
2. Trial Lawyers Fighting Hunger (maybe the photo of Lincoln is bringing good karma)
3. DuPage County Bar Association

TOP THREE TEAMS - PER CAPITA POINTS EARNED: (total points divided by # of attorneys/members)

1. Mothers in Law
2. Hurley McKenna & Mertz
3. Deemer Law Firm, Ltd.

Remember, teams receive points based on the following conversion:

$1 = 5 points; 1 pound = 1 point.
